Greg Ridley

Greg Ridley (1947–2003) was an influential English bassist known primarily for his work in the rock genre. He gained prominence as a member of the band Spooky Tooth, which formed in the late 1960s and was recognized for its unique blend of rock, blues, and psychedelia. Ridley’s robust bass lines and distinctive playing style contributed significantly to the band’s sound, particularly on albums like "Spooky Tooth's" *Spooky Two* (1970). In 1971, Ridley co-founded Humble Pie with guitarist Steve Marriott, another major milestone in his career. Humble Pie became known for its hard rock and blues rock sound, achieving commercial success with hits like "30 Days in the Hole" and the album *Smokin’* (1972). Ridley's energetic performances and musical versatility helped establish the band's reputation in the early 1970s rock scene. Throughout his career, Ridley collaborated with various artists, leaving a lasting impact on the rock genre. His work has influenced numerous musicians and bands, and he is remembered as a key figure in the British rock movement of the late 20th century.
